The Earth Stewardship Task Force met at the Fellowship for three years.  Its purpose was designed to put into practical motion the 7th UU principle: ”respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part”.  In three short years, the task force accomplished a lot:

  • Organized  an updated recycling program with different colored cans.

  • Planted two small organic gardens in the front yard.

  • Ran the 'trash to cash' program, recycling aluminum cans and used the funds to donate to safe harbor.

  • Ran a compact fluorescent light sale to raise money for the Fellowship and stimulate the use of lights that save energy.

  • Had an energy audit done at the Fellowship.

  • Started the 'Simplicity Circle' program which continues.

  • Presented two Sunday services based upon environmental issues.

  • Started the purchase of bags and paper products made from recyclable materials.

  • Passed on materials for energy saving ideas to congregation.

  • Raised money for the purchase and installation of the reversible ceiling fans, which help cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
