Stewardship Task Force
Contact: Tom Buglio
The
Earth Stewardship Task Force met at the Fellowship for three
years. Its purpose was designed to put into practical
motion the 7th UU principle: ”respect for the
interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part”.
In three short years, the task force accomplished a lot:
-
Organized
an updated recycling program with different colored cans.
-
Planted
two small organic gardens in the front yard.
-
Ran
the 'trash to cash' program, recycling aluminum cans and
used the funds to donate to safe harbor.
-
Ran
a compact fluorescent light sale to raise money for the
Fellowship and stimulate the use of lights that save energy.
-
Had
an energy audit done at the Fellowship.
-
Started
the 'Simplicity Circle' program which continues.
-
Presented
two Sunday services based upon environmental issues.
-
Started
the purchase of bags and paper products made from recyclable
materials.
-
Passed
on materials for energy saving ideas to congregation.
-
Raised
money for the purchase and installation of the reversible
ceiling fans, which help cool in the summer and warm in the
winter.
